Case Study: Non-Exempt Manufacturing Employee Performance with MAA™

Client Challenge

Improving non-exempt manufacturing employee performance using the MAA™.

Solution

A performance study was conducted with 246 non-exempt employees in a national manufacturing organization. MAA™ assessment scores and supervisory performance ratings were collected to determine the predictive relationship between the MAA™ and on-the-job performance of non-exempt manufacturing employees.

Results

Non-exempt manufacturing employees who were rated as strong performers by supervisors scored statistically better on the MAA™, while employees who were rated as less effective performers scored statistically lower on the MAA™. The performance factors showing this difference included:

Aptitude

  • Problem Solving / Decision Making
  • Planning & Organizing
  • Communication

Work Style

  • Flexibility & Adaptability
  • Integrity
  • Safety Conscious
  • Work Ethic
  • Self Motivation
  • Quality Orientation

Thus, using the MAA™ to make hiring decisions is an effective strategy for manufacturing organizations to improve the aptitude and work style performance of non-exempt employees.
