A leader’s ability to reach his or her potential depends on a clear understanding of priorities and expectations. That’s why the HD 360 goes beyond measuring a leader’s proficiency in a static list of performance areas. It also highlights the key competencies that both the leader and his or her manager feel are vital for success in the leader’s current role. And—perhaps more importantly—the HD 360 identifies gaps in those perceptions, giving the leader a chance to align his or her priorities with those of the manager and the organization as a whole.

Better Alignment for Better ResultsA leader’s ability to reach his or her potential depends on a clear understanding of priorities and expectations.
Separate Critical from ImportantBefore the assessment process begins, the leader and his or her managers are asked to select seven of the 23 competencies that are crucial to the performance of the leader’s current role. While all of the competencies are important, these are the “critical few” that will drive the greatest business results.
Create Alignment through ClarityIf disconnect exists between the leader’s priorities and those of his or her managers, it is clearly identified in the HD 360 feedback report. The leader and managers can then begin the process of aligning their expectations—and the leader can focus his or her attention on the areas that will drive the greatest return. Focus Yields ResultsOnce the leader and manager are in agreement about critical competencies, the leader can quickly assess the areas in which the most development effort should be focused. Even more importantly, the leader will know which strengths he or she can leverage most effectively as other competencies are developed. Additional Resources |
